Indiana Jones Photo

19 Sep

Indiana Jones has been a long time fan favorite because of his endearing values, his ingenuity and his capabilities, not to mention his sense of humor, languages and snake phobia. He is also notable for his diverse knowledge of Ancient culture, history and civilization. These are but a few characteristics that make an autographed Indiana Jones photo a perfect addition to your wall.

Complete with the fedora, the leather jacket and the khaki shirt, this rugged image of one of the world’s favorite treasure hunters is personally signed by Harrison Ford. This is a limited edition Indiana Jones photo of the popular archaeologist, with a Real Deal Memorabilia Certificate of Authenticity.

One of the most celebrated characters portrayed in movies, Ford’s portrayal of Indiana Jones has landed him among the top ten movie characters of all time from many award giving bodies and publications. He is an International icon well loved by people from different walks of life regardless of age, gender and race.

The first movie about Indiana Jones was released in the early 80’s and was titled the Raiders of the Lost Ark. This was a period film based in the 1930s. The movie told of the adventures the character faced in finding the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol that was hidden by tribe’s priets in a lost temple in the jungle of Peru.

The second movie is a prequel to the Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was titled Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. This movie was released more than a year after the first. The third of the series was released in 1989 called Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The character of Indiana Jones became very lovable throughout the trilogy; he was depicted as a hero that is a human, vulnerable and capable of making mistakes. Although he was normally guided by his wit, his triumphs were attributed to his willingness to help people.

The real to life escapades of Indiana Jones make him an amazing movie character worth collecting. While there are many items of memorabilia related to him, the Indiana Jones photo is definitely one of his collectibles that you shouldn’t miss if you want to add more value to your collection.

Indiana Jones Temple of Doom Figure

12 Sep

The Indiana Jones Temple of Doom figure presents Indiana Jones on one of his most memorable expeditions as he battles the ruthless high priest Mola Ram. This piece features the famous archaeologist with his signature satchel containing the Sankara stones.

Weighing in at 10 pounds, this premium format Indy figure is based on the 1984 film entitled Indiana Jones Temple of Doom. Starring Harrison Ford and directed by Steven Spielberg, this was the second film that depicts the life and adventures of the famous archaeologist Indiana Jones; the first one being the Raiders of the Lost Ark that was released in 1981.

The setting of the movie takes place in 1935. The story starts as Indiana Jones, together with his travelling companions, manage to escape the wrath of Lao Che, a crime leader in Shanghai. While escaping, they find themselves stranded in Northern India following a plane crash. The inhabitants believe Indy has been sent by the Hindu god Shiva to help them recover their missing children and the sacred Sankara stones that were stolen by the Thuggee cult.

Indy soon discovers that the Thuggee cult has enslaved the missing children and built a secret underground temple to the goddess Kali. Its evil high priest, Mola Ram, plans to use the Sankara stones to enslave the entire world.

After a harrowing mine cart chase through the Temple of Doom, Indy and his companions escape into the jungle with the Sankara stones only to find themselves ambushed by Mola Ram and the Thuggee warriors. He was able to defeat Mola Ram by invoking an incantation to Shiva that made the stones burn Mola Rum’s hand, causing him to fall into a crocodile-infested river where he was eaten.

The movie was considered one of the best films in 1984 and the figure based on the move is a must have for any Indy fan. It is perhaps the coolest version of Indy in all of the four movies as he looks just ready for action. And paired with a Mola Ram figure, he just may be.

The one thing that is totally amazing about this replica is the Sankara stones. They are loosely distributed in his signature satchel along with one that he can hold in this left hand. From the massive base (complete with chilled monkey brains) to the spot on likeness of Harrison Ford and his dynamic pose right from the movie screen, this Indiana Jones Temple of Doom Figure will surely become an instant classic.

If you are a professional collector or just an admirer of a really great film and character, you can’t miss out on adding the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom figure to your collection. This is a great figure overall with a spot-on likeness of Indy. The fedora, action pose, satchel & stones, clothing damage, scuffs & blood, sword & whip, make it a figure you’d be proud to display on your shelf!

Indiana Jones Fertility Idol

05 Sep

The Indiana Jones Fertility Idol or the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol is one of most memorable and desired collection pieces for many Indiana Jones enthusiasts. The idol was discovered by Indiana Jones (played by Harrison Ford) during his adventures in the hit movie Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. This was the first artifact Indiana Jones, the treasure hunter, acquired.

The movie tells the fictional story of the Indiana Jones Fertility Idol. It was a solid gold statue, six inches tall, representing Pachamama, the Chachapoyan goddess of fertility. The idol was hidden by the tribe's priests in a temple deep within the jungles of Peru. It became a rite of passage for young Chachapoyan warriors to stare into the idol's eyes only after navigating the temple's deadly traps.

According to the story, an archaeologist named Forrestal, disappeared in the jungle attempting to recover the idol. Indiana Jones, through Forrestal’s chronicles, was able to locate the temple and extract the Idol only to have it stolen by rogue archaeologist, René Belloq. Thereafter, the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol was re-appropriated by Jones, stolen, and reclaimed by Jones again.

The Fertility Idol, although used in the movie as a fictional prop, was actually based on a real and existing greenstone carving in the pre-Columbian Collection at Dumbarton Oaks. Although its significance still remains unknown, this historical work of art is believed to represent the Aztec Goddess Tlazoltetl. However, a lot of experts believe that this piece is a historical fraud created in the late 1800s.

You can get a chrome plated prop replica of the Fertility Idol sitting atop a themed idol chamber display base to add to or begin your collection of Indiana Jones memorabilia. It measures 10” H x 10” W x 10” L and weighs 10 pounds.

This life-size replica is easily the best reproduction of the Idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The base detail is excellent; it's heavy and well made. The idol itself is very heavy and shiny. Overall, it’s a perfect addition to any Indiana Jones collection. In fact, the Indiana Jones Fertility Idol will likely become the centerpiece of your own collection of artifacts.

The four films included in the set are Raiders of the Lost Ark (the film that introduced Indiana Jones to the world, released in1981); Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (released in 1984), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (released in 1989) and Crystal Skull.

In all four films, Harrison Ford starred as the dashing archaeologist whose adventures take him all over the world in search of some of history’s most exotic lost treasures.  The series featured Denhom Elliot as college dean Marcus Brody, John Rhys Davies as Jones’ sidekick Sallah, and Karen Allen as love interest Marion Ravenwood. The Last Crusade introduced Sean Connery as Indy’s father, Henry Jones Sr.

The first three films included in the Indiana Jones Adventure Collection are the one-disk re-releases that were issued in 2008 when Crystal Skull hit theaters. While they are similar to the earlier editions that were released in 2003, they come with new bonus extras.

The bonuses include introductions by series creators George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, cast interviews, photo galleries, making-of short features, and storyboard sequence documentaries showing how a particular scene was accomplished from its conceptualization at the storyboard stage to its final realization on set.
